Finger Arthritis
This can occur due to different reasons. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is caused by the body attacking itself, while Osteo Arthritis (OA) is a result of wear and tear. Both types cause pain, swelling, and cartilage degeneration. Our Hand Therapists at Northside Hand & Upper Limb Clinic treat many patients with OA, which is often caused by repetitive tasks such as gardening.
Thumb Arthritis
This is a common condition that can cause significant pain in the carpometacarpal joint. Symptoms include a painful "ring" around the base of the thumb near the wrist, which can be triggered by heavy gripping, pinching, pruning, or typing. Gardening is a common cause of the pain.
